Winter Is Coming

I hope you”re enjoying this new section of my blog! It’s a bit of a mess at the minute, but I know a lot of you enjoy getting an insight into other knitters’ creative process (I really do) so let’s see where this takes us. The main highlight of these last couple of weeks has been two of my tutorials featuring in Gathered – one of them even was the cover star!

I’m actually already working on exciting winter projects for Gathered. I can’t tell you much at the moment, but hopefully will be able to show you pics soon. The great thing is, these tutorials are for beginners so anyone will be able to give them a go! I don’t know about you, but when I started knitting I remember getting really bored of the basic garter stitch. Ok it’s easy, and yes you can create great knits, but there are many more easy (and million times prettier) stitches out there!

A good example it THIS stitch. I’m in love. Find out more in Gathered soon!

I’m also working on another winter custom order for a friend of mine. The brief: a brown scarf for men. I’m used to knitting girly stuff, so I looked for a new stitch and found this beauty: the knot stitch.

The knot stitch (MK) is worked on the wrong side row (knit each right side row). Purl 3 stitches together (p3tog), then without taking the stitches from the left needle, bring the yarn over the right needle (yarn over yo) and purl again into those 3 stitches together. Now repeat to the end of the row.

Ok, it might take me a while to get this scarf done due to the technicality of the stitch and how much attention it requires but I can’t wait to see the result! In the meantime, here are some snoods and scarves I’ve made in the past.

What winter projects are you working on? Do you have a favourite yarn for the colder months?
