Knitting For Africa

I just added a new section to my blog called ‘Julie Loves’. Given that I love a lot of stuff this is going to be a pretty random section I suppose – watch this space…

This first ‘Julie Loves’ post is about using my passion for knitting to help others. Last year, I have raised over £150 last year for Movember by selling knitted fingertaches and it was so much fun!

This time I was asked by a work colleague to knit a baby jumper for African newborns. Many of them are being sent home from hospital wrapped in newspaper for warmth. I’ve actually never knitted an item of clothing before, so I thought that was the perfect opportunity to give it a go.

I definitely need more practice with clothing but I’m quite happy with the result! Even if it isn’t perfect (something I usually find hard to cope with haha) it will help keep a tiny baby warm and that’s all that matters.

If you are a knitter or crocheter (even a beginner) and you’d like to get involved, visit Knit For Africa for more information.
